Pono Nutrition: Making Life a Little More Sweet and Nutritious

Sheila Hunter, an island girl from Hawaii moved from Southern California with her husband Lee to Vero Beach in 2015. Sheila has been into eating healthy and living an active lifestyle all her life. For over 15 years, she has been coaching and helping people achieve their health and fitness goals. Just last year during the pandemic in March 2020 she discovered a new, fun, healthier way to serve the community, by making life a little more sweet and nutritious.

It started when Sheila was looking for healthier snack options to meal prep for work using the supplements she had been using for over 10 years. She played around with some recipes for protein donuts and meal replacement smoothies and sampled them to her friends and co-workers. Word got around and people started reaching out wanting to try them. Pono Nutrition was soon born.

With popular interest from the community for these healthy goodies, energy teas and protein iced coffees were soon added to the menu. Customers are able to pre-order online on her website or on her social media channels. Sheila works her small business around her two little ones Ellis and Kalani both under the age of three. Her new discovery offers the community healthier food options.

Pono Nutrition is a satellite cafe located in South Vero. You can also find these healthy protein donuts and nutritious drinks at Dulce Vida Nutrition (Instagram @dulcevidanutrition) their sister cafe in Fellesmere, serving Sebastian and Vero Lake Estates area.  Their mission is to support the community in getting healthier, happier and stronger. Sheila’s vision is to open up a healthy cafe in Vero Beach and in the surrounding towns of the Treasure Coast. She is currently in search for a physical location. They would love to partner with other businesses to offer healthy food options in the workplace.
